Today we took the tram to get to the starting point of our stroll. We started in Brühl and headed for the „Kaiserbahnhof“ (The Imperial Train Station). That train station got his name from Emperor Wilhelm I., he used to visit the yearly autumn maneuvres of the German army in the Eifel area from that station. We strolled through the small park at the station and headed to Kierberg. At Kierberg we entered the „Kottenforst“. It is a huge forest in the Cologne area and the part we were visiting was once a mining area for coal that has nowadays been reforested again. We came across a large pond where we saw many little frogs. At yet another pond we decided to rest and have some Onigiri (rice balls) as snack. We then left the forest and walked through some small villages. At the end we visited water castle Kendenich.
